Management Committee

Welcome to our management committee section. We hope this helps you to get to know us, our roles and responsibilities.

The management committee appoints the Headteacher and delegates the responsibility for the day to day running of the school to the Headteacher. Individual members of the committee have no power as such and cannot act or speak on behalf of the management committee unless they have had the power delegated to them.

The Structure of the Management Committee

Besides the Full Committee we have four sub-committees:

  • Planning
  • Leadership
  • Learning and Teaching
  • Behaviour and Safety (Safeguarding)
  • Finance
  • Performance

Each Committee meets approximately three times a year and as appropriate.  We also have a number of Panels dealing with discipline, appeals and staff issues.

What Qualifications are Needed?

No formal qualifications are required, just a desire to put your experience and life skills to good use.  Committee members are people with an interest in education and a belief in working together to improve the outcomes for our students.  They are people who have a few hours spare each month, and enjoy being part of a team.

What about Training?

New members are given a full induction pack about their role and are invited to attend an induction training course run by the Local Authority Support Department.  Further training is available locally to fit in with specific roles of governors.

It seems like an awful lot of work – why do it?

Most people find it very rewarding to be part of the education team, working in partnership with staff and the local community to secure the best possible education of the students at KHNES.

Please note that for the protection of our students all committee member appointments are subject to a vetting process and identity check.
